48 Hour Update: 3 books (and 13 hours) down
On the clock: 13 hours (including 2 blogernizing)By the page: 883 I just finished Sydney Salter’s second novel Jungle Crossing. Sydney’s a fellow 2k9 classmate with witty writing and astute characterizations surrounding teenage girl issues. I loved Kat’s growth through the story and especially enjoyed a personal connection to the life and culture of the Yucatan, where I spent a summer when I was in college (oh so many years ago).
Book Summary: Kat’s stuck going on summer vacation to Mexico with her family, including her irritating little sister. Her parents throw her into a cultural experience where it’s sink or swim, and she’s got to compete with the girls who have it all together: the cheerleader, european sun goddess, and the snide sophisticate To top it all off, the Mayan tour guide’s assistant hates her for no reason at all. For suffering through all this, Kat will probably get kicked out of Fiona’s Five at home and her 8th grade year will be ruined. Can she survive this recipe for disaster? Onward to the next tome!
